The temple festivals of Kerala

If u ask me what kindda music makes my heart go racing , i will say the drums at the festivals of kerala . Different ensemble known in different names , each with its unique rhythms be it the elanjithara melam or the panchavadyam . 
The majestic horn known as 'Kombu',the scintillating drums known as the 'Chenda' are my personal favourites.I guess no other genre of music can make my adrenaline pump as these.The synchrony of the instruments and the once in a while competition between the performers are the most captivating.

Temple festivals for me are always about beautifully adorned elephants, the instrumental music in whatever form, the excitement in the crowd, the lingering taste of the ginger candy, the little shops lined with eye catching toys, the roasted groundnuts, the mouthwatering bajis and so goes the list.
